About 10 years ago, I make the decision to move my blog from Google's Blogger platform into a code repository that uses the Ruby-based Jekyll platform. In hindsight, this was a mistake, partly because the search engine giant refused to re-index the content I had migrated from their platform into my own system. Most of these pages here have been SEO-sandboxed, seemingly in perpetuity. I guess they bear a grudge, like a bitter ex.

In larger part, it also meant that I started to write my blog in the same text editor in which I write computer code. A few years ago, I developed a strong aversion to spending any time using a code text editor when I wasn't working on code. Hence, I now dislike writing for the Internet on here, since I have to engage the same interface as my career requires. It sours the palate for composition.

I could also mention that code editors tend to have built-in AI auto-completion capabilities, which means that while I'm trying to write now, several AI agents I use to help me code are making inline, real-time suggestions about how to finish the sentences I'm writing, as I write them. They also insist on inserting HTML tags when I type a word that resembles one.

There are workarounds to this, of course, but I surface this objection as an excuse to point out that I enjoy writing precisely because I relish bearing witness to the process of letting the Generative AI that is my own brain initiate, congeal, and give structure to ideas.

I do have more to say about AI and how it has come to impact us, but I plan to expound on that, and many other things, elsewhere. I'm off to test other platforms.
