During the pandemic situation, I've actually sat down to write a blog post on here multiple times. My objective is just to get the ideas I have in my head out, in any form, and in a way that doesn't necessarily require structure. When it comes to writing, though, I make some effort to give what I write structure so that each post is somewhat well-formed.

This is at odds with the overall objective: to get the ideas out of my head. While I'm just trying to make a simple point, I get bogged down in trying to construct an overall blog post, and so I end up abandoning almost all of them midway through.

So, I tried something different. Yesterday, I started recording voice memos to myself with the idea of possibly putting some of them out there as a podcast. Turns out, the whole process is incredibly useful to whatever creative demon is residing inside of my brain. It's a very good way for me to just dump whatever is running through my head at any given point out into some persistent form, in a way that doesn't demand any kind of perfectionistic structure. I'm also getting better at ad-libbing my thoughts on the spot, without putting words together in advance. The practice here has been helpful so far, even with only a collective 10 hours of doing it.

I'm stuck at home without any professional audio equipment, so unfortunately, the audio quality is incredibly poor.
